Inflation Help Checks: How to Get Your Help Check in October?

As the global economy continues its long post-pandemic recovery, nations around the world are experiencing an extended period of high inflation. This has driven prices well beyond the typical rate of wage growth, leaving consumers with less money in their pockets in real terms.

To help residents, a number of US states are issuing inflation relief payments to ensure that households across the country are always able to cover the cost of basic necessities. Others simply offer additional tax refunds provide financial support more generally.

The amount offered varies from state to state, from a few hundred dollars to more than $1,000 per taxpayer, a significant amount in difficult economic circumstances.

California

Payments began flowing to eligible residents last week and will continue through January 2023, with up to $1,050 being offered. To be eligible, you must have been a resident of California in 2020 and you must submit your state tax return for the year.

Colorado

Residents who have lived in Colorado for all of 2021 and who filed a state tax return in the 2021 tax year can get a one-time tax refund worth $750 per person, or $1,500 for joint filers.

Delaware

The Delaware Relief Rebate Program will provide an inflation relief check of $300 for single residents or $600 for couples filing jointly. To be eligible, you must have has filed a 2020 or 2021 tax return.

Florida

The states Temporary assistance to needy families The initiative will provide a $450 inflation check to low-income households. Checks will be sent automatically.

Georgia

Residents who have a tax obligation for 2020 and who filed a tax return because this can get a one-time tax refund. Payments were first sent out in August, but officials said “all refunds may take some time to process.”

Hawaii

Individuals who earned less than $100,000 in 2021 ($200,000 for joint filers) will receive $300 per person and per dependent from Governor David Ige’s one-time tax refund. Payments will be automatic for those who have filed a tax return and were distributed from September 12.

Idaho

In September, a new round of bonus relief checks was authorized, providing a rebate of up to 10% of income taxes paid for 2020. To be eligible, residents must file their 2020 and 2021 tax returns before December 31, 2022.

Illinois

Illinois homeowners are in line for a tax refund of up to $300, provided their gross income does not exceed $250,000, or $500,000 for co-filers. Residents must have filed a 2021 state tax return.

Maine

A program introduced by Maine Governor Janey Mills will see checks for $850 sent to around 858,000 Maine residents to help ease the pain caused by inflation. To be eligible, residents of Maine must file a 2021 personal income tax return before October 31, 2022.

Massachusetts

From November, year-round residents who filed a 2021 tax return by October 17, 2022 will receive a tax rebate. Current estimates suggest that the refund will represent approximately 13% of the claimant’s tax liability in 2021.

New Jersey

The state offers a Middle class tax refund for residents with at least one dependent child, provided they file for 2020 with a tax balance of at least $1.

Caroline from the south

Residents with taxes owing in 2021 can get up to $700 in the form of a tax refund, though the actual amount of the offer won’t be confirmed until Oct. 17 at the earliest. To receive the money, which will be distributed by December 31, all you need to do is make sure you have filed a tax return.

Virginia

According Governor Glenn Youngkin. The deadline to file your 2021 tax return and trigger payment is November 1, but do it as soon as possible to reduce the wait. The state has warned that it can take up to four months from your filing date for the refund to arrive.
