You only have 8 days left to sign up for child tax credit payments, don’t wait or you won’t get the money until 2022

Low-income families have a little over a week to register for child tax credits before they miss the opportunity.

The deadline to register through the IRS ‘no-filer tool was October 15, but another route was created by the White House, the US Treasury, and Code for America.

Now, families have one last chance to register through GetCTC.org that did not produce taxes in 2019 or 2020.

Families who do not file a return typically earn less than $ 12,200 as a single taxpayer or $ 24,400 as a married couple filing jointly.

The tool requires a Social Security number or an individual taxpayer identification number and can be used until November 15. Claiming before that date will give families the full payment everyone was getting monthly in one lump sum in December worth up to $ 1,800 per child.

If families don’t register, they will have to file taxes next year to claim the full amount. They will have to apply for the credit even though they usually don’t.

Others can look forward to their fifth monthly payment on November 15 worth up to $ 300 per child.

Child tax credits are worth $ 3,600 the next tax season, and the full amount will be paid in full in 2022.

Children under 6 get a credit worth $ 3,600, children ages 6 to 17 get a credit worth $ 3,000, and students claimed at university until l age 24 will get credits worth $ 500.
